In today’s video, I share my lollipop coloring process, demonstrating how I create amazingly vibrant color with Copic Markers and just a few Holbein colored pencils.

TECHNIQUES USED IN HEART LOLLIES
The following techniques can be spotted in the HEART LOLLIES video:
I printed my Vintage Clock digital stamp onto Strathmore Bristol (Amazon link) but the interior hearts were hand drawn using extremely light pressure with my favorite mechanical pencil (Amazon link). I’ve included both plain and hearted versions of the line art in the line art kit.
The pencil supply list for this project is incredibly small because we’re using translucent pencils rather than opaque. Translucent pencils allow the marker base layer to shine through, making each pencil a chameleon. Clear teal over red doesn’t look like teal, it looks like dark red!
This project will work with any three colors. Don’t worry about clashing colors at the overlaps, I share why in the video.
The lollipops are transparent which means the cast shadows are colorful instead of gray. Think of each candy as a stained glass window which transmits light rather than blocking it!

SWEET HEARTS FOR YOUR SWEETHEART
I love to doodle hearts… which is weird because I’ve never really been a girly-girl.
So it’s no surprise that I go a little crazy each February with heart projects. It’s my season!
These Heart Lollies are fat little hearts with extra hearty swirls inside, the perfect chance to play with color and transparency although now that I think about it, I kinda want to color these as chocolate pops next. Hmmmm.
