A Warm Orange, Full of Sunshine

Real shade is not darker color, real shade is desaturated color.

To create the desaturated colors that Copic Marker does not make, Vanilla Arts Company teaches Online Workshops and Livestream Coloring Challenges using the underpainting method. Students learn to layer colors realistically rather than blend.

Underpainting creates natural colors found in everyday life.

Carrot Juice

Elena’s Advice:

I know that a carrot is supposed to be bright orange . . . but upon closer look it is so much more. To recreate the colors in this carrot required a little more experimentation.

If you put the B01 marker down before the YR07 you will end up with a tiny hint of green, which is perfect for an organic object such as my carrot.

Then, I’ve really done something unusual, I end this combination with a Y35 marker. It really brightens up the orange at the top of the carrot.

Amy’s also a fan of ending her orange combinations with a yellow. The yellow has a bonus effect, helping to blend orange ink which is otherwise a bit stubborn.

Give it a try! You’ll like this combo.
