Vanilla Undercover: Underpaint with Copic Markers for Beautiful Realism - Vintage Green
Warm Green that’s full of Sunshine
Real shade is not darker color, real shade is desaturated color.
To create the desaturated colors that Copic Marker does not make, Vanilla Arts Company teaches Online Workshops and Livestream Coloring Challenges using the underpainting method. Students learn to layer colors realistically rather than blend.
Underpainting creates natural colors found in everyday life.
Vintage Green
Elena’s Advice:
If you watch cooking shows, you hear the chefs talk about adding lemon juice to “brighten” the flavors. That’s what I’ve done here. I’ve added a B12 marker to my YG combination to brighten my vintage green.
This is a very a versatile combination and it’s perfect for beginners because it’s an easy blender and pretty tame compared to some of my other weirder combinations.
To create this Vintage Green, start with a base layer of B12 then add a generous coat of YG25. Top that with a layer of YG93. Finish with YG21 to make it all smooth.
Be careful with YG21. At Vanilla Arts, we call markers like this a Super Eater. They’re so loaded with colorless blender in the mix that if you over use it, it will eat away all your previous layers. Use just enough to get it wet, don’t over-ink the paper.
