Blue Sets the Mood
Real shade is not darker color, real shade is desaturated color.
To create the desaturated colors that Copic Marker does not make, Vanilla Arts Company teaches Online Workshops and Livestream Coloring Challenges using the underpainting method. Students learn to layer colors realistically rather than blend.
Underpainting creates natural colors found in everyday life.
Blue Buzz
Elena’s Advice:
I am not a big fan of things that buzz around me. But look at this dragon fly, who couldn’t be inspired? The colors are incredible! I could not resist recreating this electric blue color with my Copic markers.
It took just a little bit of swatching to find that the addition of B12 in this combination would add the subtle warm hint of aqua I see in the dragonfly.
You can do this too. Start with a layer of C5 and follow it with B14. Next, blend it out with a layer of that magical B12 and finish with the B00 marker.
Don’t forget to give the ink time to blend all on their own.
